Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IMLAutomated material flow systems control and monitor the container transport in conveyor systems. Often they are hierarchically structured: A material flow computer is responsible for the container routing in the plant and instructs the subordinate control layer. Within the research project VitOL, an experimental sensor network based system for decentral material flow technology has been realized at Fraunhofer IML.
