Sorting analysis used textiles

The collection and the recycling of used textiles becomes more and more important in terms of a sustainable recycling economy. From 2025 onwards, used textiles must be collected separately in Europe as part of the EU circular economy action plan in order to promote reuse and high-quality recycling. In the projects, possibilities are determined whether and how certain textile material flows can be collected separately.

For this, used textiles that are collected on recycling yards or during street collections are examined. Findings were accumulated on the textile fiber material groups, their percent by weight, and other aspects. These data form an initial basis for closed, sustainable textile material flows of the future.
