Lamarr Embodied AI

The Lamarr Institute for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of six AI competence centres in Germany. In the Embodied AI research area, employees from the Department of AI and Autonomous Systems investigate the use of AI in robotics.

6GEM

As part of the BMBF-funded project 6GEM open - efficient - secure - safe, the Department of AI and Autonomous Systems is evaluating the potential of new technologies for the cloud-based control of robots, among other things.

FELICE

In the EU research project Flexible Assembly Manufacturing with Human-Robot Collaboration and Digital Twin Models (FELICE), the Department of AI and Autonomous Systems is investigating the use of machine learning methods to increase robustness in production, among other things.

RIG

The Robotics Institute Germany is a BMBF initiative that aims to connect leading universities and institutes in robotics within Germany in order to increase international visibility, attract talent and accelerate progress in AI-based robotics.

Silicon Economy

The Silicon Economy is a project of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML, supported by the German logistics industry. Together, we are developing an open source infrastructure for the platform economy of the future.

SWAP

The Fraunhofer lighthouse project Hierarchical swarms as a production architecture (SWAP) that can be optimised for capacity utilisation aims to develop new technological concepts for designing the production of the future.

ML2R

The Competence Center Machine Learning Rhine-Ruhr was one of four nationwide hubs to raise the development of artificial intelligence and machine learning in Germany to a world-leading level. It was continued as the Lamarr Institute.

L4MS

The L4MS project focuses on fully digitalising intralogistics automation in factories. The aim is to enable suppliers of automation and logistics solutions to develop and be productive up to ten times faster and more cost-effectively than at current prices.

AI Arena

As part of the ai arena project, an AI laboratory for interdisciplinary collaborative research was set up at Fraunhofer IML. This laboratory offers a practical environment in which central issues of machine learning for robot swarms are investigated.

IMOCO4.E

The EU project IMOCO4.E aimed to develop intelligent edge-to-cloud motion control solutions for industry with the help of AI and digital twins. As part of a German consortium, we developed intelligent solutions for autonomous forklift trucks.
